Hagerstown Station to Lose NBC Affiliation

The only licensed station in Hagerstown, Md., is about to lose its NBC affiliation.

An NBC spokesperson told the Herald-Mail Media, “I can confirm that the affiliation is ending this summer.”

WHAG gm Hugh Breslin said, “We have plans to make a major announcement about exciting changes to our service and programming next week.”

A quick check of the FCC website (map below) shows WHAG‘s signal overlaps the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. markets. NBC owned station WRC is in D.C.

Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, is the primary cable provider carrying Nexstar-owned WHAG in that area which stretches as far north as Chambersburg, Pa. and as far south as Winchester, Va.

TVSpy asked NBC about it. We haven’t heard back. We’ll update when we do.
