Good Day Philadelphia anchor Mike Jerrick has yet to come back to work after a week-long vacation. That’s because he’s tested positive for Covid-19.
The morning show host, who is 70, shared the news Tuesday afternoon that he’ll be off the air until he recovers.
“Thanks for reaching out asking, ‘where am I?’” he wrote on Facebook and Instagram. “I’m right here on my couch. On vacation last week. But out sick this week. Yes, I’ve tested positive for Covid. After reporting on this nightmare for 9 months, and trying my best to avoid it, I now join the millions who know the real fear of this virus. Quarantine will give me lots of time to get better, and appreciate all of you even more.”
He ended his note with a word of caution to his viewers.
“Please continue to heed those calls—social distance, stay home if you can, wear a mask, and protect the ones you love,” he wrote. “That’s what I’m going to do, especially my coworkers.”
Jerrick didn’t say whether or not he was experiencing symptoms.
WTXF’s Alex Holley, Jerrick’s usual co-anchor, will be joined by Thomas Drayton, who hosts the 4-6 a.m. newscasts, until Jerrick is ready to get back to work, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
