KMPH anchor Ashley Ritchie is planning to come back to the Fresno, Calif., Fox affiliate after the birth of her third son, but not as an anchor.
The Fresno Bee reports, even though Ritchie’s return date isn’t set, she plans to work on special projects when she does return.
“I just want them to know I’m not gone,” she told the Bee about viewers’ concern for her. “I’m just on a hiatus.”
Just before Christmas, Ritchie made the decision not to return to the anchor chair. There is no word on her replacement.
It’s always an interesting time when a local TV anchor or reporter is off the air for an extended time. Some viewers assume it means the person has been fired. Most of the time, the person is on vacation.
Ritchie says the outpouring of love and concern for her has been a real blessing.
