By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel Comment

We’re expanding news.

That’s what Jack Abernethy, the CEO of Fox Television said today.

The group will up its local news production in nine markets. Those markets are New York, Washington D.C., Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis and Charlotte.

“In a time when media critics are accusing large station groups of cutting back on news, we are adding more newscasts than ever with a total of more than 42 hours of local news per week this year,” Abernethy. said.

The D.C. Fox stations will add an hour and a half of news each week. WTTG is adding a half hour at 7:00p.m weekdays and 11:30pm on Sundays. WDCA is adding 30 minutes at 9:00p.m.
