Founder of Waterman Broadcasting Dies

Waterman Broadcasting founder Bernie Waterman has died.

Waterman passed away on Sunday after a short illness, according to WBBH’s site. He was 96 years old.

“He was not only the owner of Waterman Broadcasting but a mentor to the hundreds who worked for him during his career.”

Waterman purchased WBBH, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida, in 1978 and WVIR, the NBC affiliate in Charlottesville, in 1986.

Funeral services will be held this Friday at 10 AM at the Sanibel Community Church.
