Ike Seamans told Gossip Extra he’s trying to get his energy back and he’s “not out of the woods just yet” after being treated for prostate cancer.
The 78-year-old Seamans, who retired from Miami NBC-owned station WTVJ in 2007, was diagnosed with cancer 17 years ago.
“It was very mild at the time,” he said. “We treated it and it went away. I was in remission all these years.”
“Friends and colleagues,” Seamans wrote on his Facebook page. “I am not going to be active on Facebook, acting, modeling or writing for weeks…even months. For the last 4 months I’ve been fighting a battle against an enemy that has the most lethaĺ weapons I have ever encountered. I have PROSTATE CANCER and it is affecting my bladder and my right hip so far. I have been in and out of several hospitals for operations and also doing chemotherapy and now being transferred to a rehab center. It has been a pleasure knowing and working with all of you and I hope to be back with you before long.”
