Former San Antonio sports anchor Johnathan Solarte was charged with murder on Monday.
Solarte is accused of shooting a family member during an argument that turned physical, according to Corpus Christi police. The 35-year-old man who was shot was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
Police say Solarte told them the shooting victim “barged into his home and began to threaten him.”
The former Univision San Antonio sportscaster remains in the Nueces County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
While Solarte was working at Univision in 2017, he was arrested after refusing to stop when a Bexar County Sheriff’s deputy tried to pull him over. The District Attorney’s Office dismissed the felony evading arrest case and he was not charged or indicted.
