Former Nebraska Anchor Charged with Allegedly Sending Threatening Emails

Former Nebraska anchor Joseph Scanlan has been accused of threatening a Gibbon, Neb., woman who was in a relationship with Scanlan, according to court documents. Scanlan formerly worked for Kearney, Neb., NBC station KSNB.

According to the court records, Scanlan allegedly sent the victim threatening emails from his personal email account on Dec. 11 2023.

The alleged emails told the woman to “Kill yourself, seriously I don’t want to do it for you,” according to court documents. Scanlan also allegedly added “Some people don’t deserve to live and I know you’re at the top of the list.”

Scanlan also allegedly threatened the woman saying, “You better watch your back because I’m back in Nebraska and one of us or both of us ain’t leaving alive.”

He faces one count of terroristic threats, a Class 3A felony. Scanlan also has been charged with two counts of intimidation which are both Class 3 misdemeanors.

The station said a warrant is out for Scanlan’s arrest.

He left KSNB in November.
