Former KPIX Reporter Talks to Dr. Phil About Alcoholism

By Mark Joyella

A former investigative reporter, Christi O’Connor, appears on Thursday’s “Dr. Phil” to talk about the alcoholism that led her from a successful career in television to arrests, and eventually, to homelessness. “Finally she says, ‘You know what? I’ve got to have somebody that can grab this thing by the ears and pull us back together. If I don’t do something dramatic, my daughters are done with me,'” Dr. Phil said. “So she reached out.”

In addition to working at CBS-owned KPIX in San Francisco, O’Connor reported and did investigative work at WLOS in Asheville and KTVT in Dallas. “I don’t know if she will want (her news career) back, but her instincts are intact — her ability to see and recognize a story and to pull it together is fully intact,” Dr. Phil said. “If she wants to do this again, no doubt about it.”
