Former KMIR Anchor Janet Zappala Will Remain at Station

Longtime Emmy award winning broadcaster Janet Zappala may have stepped away from the anchor desk at KMIR in Palm Springs, Calif., but she’ll still be on television in the market.

The former 5, 6 and 6:30 p.m. anchor will stay on at the NBC affiliate as the creator, producer and reporter for Your Health Matters. She will also host a home design show that will air on the station starting in mid-September.

“As a certified nutritional consultant, it feeds my passion for helping others find ways to live healthfully and enhance their overall quality of life,” she told TVSpy.

Entravision purchased KMIR and KPSE, the MyNetworkTV station in the market, last summer from OTA broadcasting. The company has made a number of cost-cutting moves in the past year.

Zappala started at KMIR in 2014. She has worked in San Diego, Denver, Philadelphia and her hometown of Los Angeles.
