Former TV reporter and anchor Ramsay Puanani Wharton took the oath to run for the U.S. House of Representatives Wednesday.

As of May 12th, Wharton will face at least one rival for the republican nomination in September, Antonio Gimbernat of Maui.

Republican John Willoughby has yet to file his nomination papers.
