Former Dayton News Director Joins KIRO in Seattle

Laura Evans Baines has joined Cox Media Group’s Seattle CBS station KIRO as news director.

“Laura brings a wealth of successful newsroom leadership experience, with a keen focus on internal team building and service to the local community though thoughtful, smart and impactful journalism,” general manager Pat Nevin wrote in a memo obtained by Rick Gevers.

This is a move within CMG for Evans Baines, who had been the news director at WHIO in Dayton since 2021. She was assistant news director at KING in Seattle before joining WHIO. She’s also worked at CTV in Vancouver and at KTXL in Sacramento, Calif.
