Former Cincinnati Anchor John Lomax Dies at 72

By Kevin Eck

Veteran WKRC anchor John Lomax died on Tuesday. He was 72.

He started working at the Cincinnati CBS station in 1983 as a reporter, primarily covering Northern Kentucky news. In 1990, he became one of the co-anchors of Good Morning Cincinnati where he would work for the next 32 years. He retired from the station in 2022.

“He was a loving husband and father. Around Local 12 he was known as ‘The Godfather’ because he always took care of the people at the station,” the station wrote on its website. “What you saw at home was what his co-workers got to see in person everyday — a man with a huge heart and a lot of love to give. He gave that generously to all on a regular basis.”
