Florida Reporter Heads to Austin as Main Morning Anchor

CBS Austin has hired a new morning anchor.

John-Carlos Estrada will anchor the morning weekday newscasts from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. for the Sinclair station.

“I can’t wait to join the morning team at CBS Austin,” said Estrada. “They’ve built a good team there and I’m looking forward to adding my breaking news experience to the desk.”

This is Estrada’s second stint in Texas. He comes from WINK in Fort Myers, Fla. where he served a a weekend anchor and reporter. Prior to that, he worked at KTRE in Lufkin, Texas and KAVU in Victoria.

This is a 15 market jump for Estrada. He starts Aug. 15.
