Expanding Newscasts, WCVB Enters Boston Race at 4:30am

WCVB-TV (Channel 5) is entering the early morning news race by adding a 4:30 a.m. newscast.

Beginning Sept. 7, WCVB’s 4:30 a.m. newscast will feature its “Eye Opener” team: anchors Randy Price and Bianca de la Garza, meteorologist J.C. Monahan, and traffic reporter Dorothy Krysiuk. The station is also adding a 5 a.m. weekend newscast. In all, the station will have an additional 4.5 hours of news programming a week.

WCVB’s announcement yesterday makes it the third station in the Boston market with the early morning newscast. More…
