Erika Maldonado has paid her dues. After 10 years as a general assignment reporter at WGBO, the Univision station in Chicago, Maldonado has been promoted to weekday evening co-anchor.
Maldonado had been a fill-in anchor since Angélica Atondo left in October, but now her position is permanent. She will join veteran anchor Jorge Barbosa at the desk weekdays at 5:00 and 10:00 p.m.
“Erika is an outstanding, award-winning journalist who has covered some of the most important stories in Chicago for the past 10 years,” WGBO news director Teri Arvesu told Chicago media writer Robert Feder.
Prior to joining WGBO, Maldonado was an intern at WLTV, the Univision station in Miami.
