Ellen McNamara will join Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV as primary evening co-anchor on Monday.

On KCTV, McNamara will anchor the 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. news alongside Brad Stephens. The two will also anchor the 6:30 and 9:00 p.m. news on KSMO.

McNamara, who comes from KSTP in Minneapolis, Minn., told the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “KSTP offered me a new contract but I felt I was treading water. I felt this was a great opportunity. When the timing is there, you’ve got to jump on it. [My dad] encouraged me to take this job.”

Before KSTP, she worked at WFTS in Tampa. She started her career at KLBK in Lubbock, Texas before moving on to KXAN in Austin.

McNamara is the daughter of CBS News correspondent Bob McNamara.
