Des Moines Meteorologist Out; Accused of Soliciting Minors on Social Media

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

KCCI meteorologist Frank Scaglione no longer works for the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa after several minors came forward and accused Scaglione of soliciting them for sex over social media.

According to the Des Moines Register, the allegations against the 26 year old surfaced over the weekend when one of the teens posted to Twitter. More than a half dozen young men described their experience with Scaglione pursuing personal relationships and in some cases, sending and asking for naked photos.

One accuser told the Register that Scaglione followed him on Snapchat and began a conversation through direct message. The teen said the weatherman immediately asked his age.

“It was cool to add the weather guy on Snapchat,” he said. “You know, it was a thing. So I added him but (was) not expecting him to add me back. I thought that it was weird at the time that he was asking me my age, but I didn’t really think anything of it at first, just because I felt like he was just a trusted person.”

The other stories follow a similar pattern.

Scaglione’s bio is no longer on KCCI’s website. His social media accounts have alone been removed. No criminal charges have been brought at this time.
