Denver’s Top Three Stations to Share One Helicopter

Denver’s top three TV news affiliates, once fiercely competitive in the air as well as on air, will share a single, leased helicopter starting April 1.

As a cost-saving measure, KCNC-Channel 4 will join the chopper-sharing arrangement between KUSA-Channel 9 and KMGH-Channel 7, in effect since January 2009.

In KCNC’s case, the station will be “taking the video feed, not participating in operational decisions,” said KMGH news director Jeff Harris.

Eventually all three stations will have the ability to do separate enterprise reporting. More…
