Denver meteorologist Matt Makens is leaving CW and Fox affiliate KDVR-KWGN one day after being named 2021’s “Best Local TV Weathercaster” by a local media outlet.

“This is bittersweet as I’ll be leaving Ch 2 in a few weeks, however, this is a great way to ‘head out to another pasture,'” Makens wrote in a tweet announcing the award.

Makes started his career at Sunflower Cable in Lawrence, Kan. before working at KSNT in Topeka, KAKE in Wichita, WFTV in Orlando and five years at KMGH in Denver. He joined KDVR in 2016.
