DC Reporter Expertly Avoids Cicada During Live Shot

By Kevin Eck

Evan Lambert was in the middle of a live shot for WTTG, the Fox owned station in Washington, D.C., when he had to quickly avoid a flying cicada headed right for him.

Trillions of periodical cicadas, called Brood X, have recently emerged from their underground homes on the East Coast after 17 years to breed, or in this case possibly cause heart attacks.

“Can you retire at 32? Asking for a friend…,” Lambert wrote on Twitter. “And not the one who so rudely gave me a heart attack on live TV. Cicada anxiety is real ya’ll!”
