Blake McCoy has been suspended from Fox-owned Washington, D.C., station WTTG after making comments on Twitter about obese people getting Covid-19 vaccines.
“I’m annoyed obese people of all ages get priority vaccine access before all essential workers,” McCoy tweeted at 1:52 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Washington Blade. “When most stayed home, we went into work everyday last March, April, May and everyday since putting ourselves & loved ones at risk. Vaccinate all essential workers. Then obese.”
McCoy apologized on Twitter later that day.
Earlier today I Tweeted something insensitive and offensive. I truly regret my words and want to apologize.
I have deleted my tweet and ask that you accept my sincere apology.— Blake McCoy (@BlakeMcCoyDC) February 23, 2021
A Fox spokesperson told TVSpy that McCoy is suspended pending further investigation.
McCoy was called out on Twitter by someone posting a screen shot saying he only apologized because, “who has the time to argue with strangers.”
His apology is empty since he says the real reason he apologized is this: pic.twitter.com/yl0EnXOnZK
