Dayton Station Hires News Director from Seattle

Laura Evans has been named news director of Cox Media Group’s Dayton, Ohio station WHIO.

Evans, who has been serving as the interim news director at KING in Seattle, will start in her new role at the CBS affiliate on Nov. 8.

Rob Rohr, CMG Ohio’s vice president and general manager, called Evans “a proven news leader with a passion for serving viewers with the highest quality journalism.”

“The combination of her skills and leadership along with the incredibly passionate and talented news team at WHIO will enhance our product strategies and accelerate our regional news leadership to unprecedented levels across more platforms than ever before,” said Rohr.

Evans started her career as a producer for KRDO in Colorado Springs, Colo., before moving to KVOA in Tucson, Ariz. She’s also worked at KOAT in Albuquerque, N.M., KOMO in Seattle, KTXL in Sacramento, Calif. and CTV News in Vancouver, Canada.
