WVIT anchor Dan Corcoran said he’s left the NBC owned Hartford, Ct. station.
Corcoran’s bio is gone from the station website. He started as the New Haven bureau reporter in 2015 and worked his way up to evening anchor.
He announced his departure by saying it was “time for a change,” though he wasn’t sure where his “next professional chapter” will take him.
“I recently made the difficult decision to step away from my roles at NBC Connecticut,” said Corcoran. “I’m thankful the station wanted me to continue on, but this is the right time to move my skills and my experience in a new direction. I’m eternally grateful for the colleagues and friends who have challenged me to become a stronger storyteller, a better journalist and a more effective communicator. I’m so proud of the body of work that I’ve helped create in this space over the last seven years.”
He started his career at WMUR in Manchester, N.H. in 2006 and then worked in Eugene, Ore. and West Palm Beach, Fla. before joining WVIT.
“Choosing to leave a job that has been such a significant part of my life may seem like a risk—and it is,” said Corcoran. “Through much contemplation, reflection and insightful conversation with so many wonderful, supportive people, it is clear that this is the best way forward. Let’s continue these conversations. I’d love to talk about how our paths might cross in the future.”
