Deanna Dewberry‘s last day at Dallas NBC-owned station KXAS was Friday.
“I can’t begin to tell you what a blessing it has been to have helped so many of you through my consumer investigations at this station,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “It was a gift that fed my soul. Today I move on to the next step in my journey, but I’m not leaving you. I’ll post often on this site about consumer and health issues – two areas about which I’m passionate.”
Dewberry said she would continue to post work on Facebook. Dallas media blogger Ed Bark reports news director Mark Ginther told station staff Dewberry is going to another station to work as an anchor.
In his memo, Ginther said that Dewberry is “passionate about consumer reporting,” but likewise is “passionate about anchoring. And we’ve allowed her to pursue such a job . . . Her hard work and commitment to consumer issues has educated our viewers, helped shape new legislation and helped us toward our goal of becoming the consumer leader in our market.”
Before coming to KXAS, she worked at WISH in Indianapolis, Ind. as a news anchor and investigative reporter for more that seven years. Her KXAS bio says she’s also worked at WFAA in Dallas, in Little Rock, Ark. and in Lubbock, Texas.
“We warmly wish her well as she pursues what is best for her growing family,” said Ginther.
