Colorado Springs Reporter Continues Wait for Kidney Donor

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Colorado Springs, Colo., reporter Dustin Cuzick has been living life for two years focused on two things: working at KKTV and doing dialysis.

Cuzick, who has kidney disease from type 1 diabetes, has been waiting for a new kidney.

But there is good news on the horizon. He says he is next on the hospital’s donation list.

“We were out at a breaking news situation, and this lady came up and just wrapped her arms around me and hugged me and started to cry a little bit,” Cuzick said during a station interview. “I lost it … I know the viewers are out there, but to know that they care that much and to see them let you know—I really appreciate it.”

Viewers have sent cards, sent emails and even offered to get tested to see if they were a match.

As of now, Cuzick will continue with his vigorous dialysis routine, which takes 11.5 hours each night from home and three hours every day at work.
