According to the Northeast Mississippi Journal, the terms of the deal were not disclosed. Coastal Television is based in Cumming, Georgia, and also owns KTBY in Anchorage, Alaska.

“Coastal has a high level of commitment to the viewers and communities it serves and plans a seamless continuation of quality news, entertainment, and community service,” said Bill Fielder, Coastal’s president and CEO.

Fielder said the viewing public won’t see any significant changes.

He said he began mulling the purchase of WLOV in March or April of this year, and praised the station’s long history in the region.

WLOV was launched as an ABC affiliate on May 29, 1983, as WVSB, and was owned by Venture Systems. The station was bought by Love Communication eight years later and changed its call sign to WLOV.

Jennifer Dennington, WLOV’s general manager, said in a statement, “We look forward to continuing to provide viewers in nineteen counties in Northeast Mississippi and northwest Alabama with quality programming under the new ownership.”
