Cincinnati Traffic Anchor Declines Contract Extension Offer

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

A Cincinnati morning traffic anchor quit because she says she didn’t want to start looking for a job during the holidays.

WXIX‘s Denise Johnson told WVXU that the station offered her a 90 extension to improve her traffic reports but she declined.

“Within the past week, I decided I wasn’t going to stay and train my replacement,” she told the blog “I think the whole thing is a joke. I know I was good at what I did… Who wants to start looking for a job in December, right before Christmas?”

Debbie Bush, the general manager for the Raycom-owned Fox affiliate, confirmed that Johnson left the station and that her position is now available.

Johnson replaced former traffic anchor, Stephanie Woods, in 2013.

Jordan Vilines and Robert Guaderrama will fill in for Johnson during the morning show
