Chicago general assignment reporter Courtney Gousman is moving to a smaller market to anchor full-time.
Gousman, who has been working at WGN-TV, will be moving to WEWS in Cleveland, where she’ll anchor the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. shows, she announced this week.
“When I returned home to Chicago 8 years ago, I never thought I’d be writing a post like this … But life is filled with surprises,” she wrote on Instagram. “At the end of this month, I’ll be leaving @wgnnews to accept a position in Cleveland, OH! I am excited to announce I’ll be the new evening anchor for the 5, 6, & 11 newscasts at @news5cleveland.”

Gousman’s first day will be Sept. 8.
“Getting a dream job like this in the midst of a pandemic confirms God’s grace—and I am so grateful for this opportunity,” Gousman wrote.
Gousman has worked for the Nexstar station in her hometown of Chicago since 2014. Prior to that, she was an evening anchor at KSDK in St. Louis.
