Cheryl Lemke is joining Springfield, Illinois ABC affiliate WICS as chief meteorologist.
“We already had the best weather team in the market, Cheryl Lemke is the final piece of the puzzle that will enable us to continue as the preferred weather source, whether you’re watching on TV, your laptop, tablet, or smartphone,” said station manager Rick Lipps.
The State Journal-Register reports Lemke replaces Ric Kearbey, who left the station in March “after failing to reach a new contract agreement with the station.”
She left WOWT in Omaha, Neb., in October last year after her contract wasn’t renewed. Before that, she worked at WSBT in South Bend, Ind., WXIA in Atlanta, WTHI in Terre Haute, Ind. A majority of her career was spent working at The Weather Channel.
