Faced with the challenge of driving traffic to their sites, CBSSports.com and The Sports Illustrated Group, including Sports Illustrated and SI.com, announced a partnership on Monday. The sites will share content, but for the most part keep their ad revenue separate, reports paidContent.

CBSSports.com, a unit of CBS Interactive, provides Internet sports content, Fantasy sports and e-commerce. The SI franchise is anchored by Sports Illustrated, which reaches nearly 21 million adults weekly, and www.SI.com, the 24/7 sports news site.

CBSSports.com will include links to SI.com‘s writers, including Peter King and Tom Verducci, and SI.com will promote live sports video on CBSSports’ site, such as SEC Live and Fantasy Football Today. SI.com will also promote CBS’ high school sports site MaxPreps. Through MaxPreps.com, the fastest growing high school sports site on the Internet, high school athletes will have the chance to be featured in the iconic Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd franchise.

“The increased exposure for MaxPreps.com through its association with Faces in the Crowd, as well as the content sharing with Sports Illustrated writers on CBSSports.com, should truly be a winning combination for both sides,” said Jason Kint, Senior VP and GM of CBSSports.com.
