CBS, Cablevision Strike Renewed Carriage Pact

CBS and Cablevision on Friday announced they have come to terms on a renewed carriage agreement.

Per conditions laid out in the new pact, Cablevision will continue to carry WCBS2 in New York and KYW (CBS) and WPSG (CW) in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed, it is understood that retransmission consent fees played a significant role in the negotiations, which began earlier this year. Analysts have eyeballed CBS’ asking rate for retrans consent for the flagship network at around 50 cents per subscriber.

CBS has said that retrans dollars should add an estimated $250 million to its bottom line. In January, the broadcaster hashed out its first major retrans consent pact, signing a five-year deal with Time Warner Cable.More…
