Jeff Russo will make the switch from sports to news for WKBW.
Mike Nurse, GM of the Buffalo ABC affiliate, confirmed the move which was first reported by Alan Pergament, media writer for The Buffalo News. Nurse said Russo will solo anchor the 5:30 p.m. newscast starting January 19.
“Our goal is to break up the current 90 minute block of Keith Radford and Joanna Pasceri,” Nurse told TVSpy. “We want to give the 5:30p a different look and feel from the other newscasts. Jeff will also report dayside and contribute to the early newscasts.”
The move has been rumored since November. According to Pergament, “The speculation continued this week when Russo anchored in place of a vacationing Keith Radford.”
