Buffalo Reporter Records Arrest of Guy Who Allegedly Beat Photographer

By Kevin Eck

WIVB reporter Nick Quattrini took to Facebook to tell the story of the four or five men who assaulted them and tried to steal their gear.

“The scumbag in this video threatened to shoot me with a gun, punched me in the face, and tried to steal the camera and microphone,” Quattrini wrote on his Facebook page. “Fortunately, I only walked away with a scrape on my chin.”

Quattrini says he was doing a live shot for the station when the men tried to rob him. When the photographer tried to run away, Quattrini says the guy in the video “severely beat him.”

Out of the 5, this man (26-year-old Evan Stafford) was the only one to be arrested. To my understanding, he is charged with several felonies including felony attempted robbery, 2 counts of felony assault, and menacing with a weapon (which he didn’t have).
Police are still looking for the rest of the group.

Quattrini also had a word of advice:

To all my news friends, please be aware of your surroundings.
I did not think this was going to happen to me, and it could have been a lot worse.
As you can see in the video, I was extremely pissed off about the situation, and I hope this piece of shit rots in jail.
Oh, and by the way, we were covering the unveiling of an “art display”, your typical fluff piece that you would never expect this to happen at.
So please be aware wherever you go…
