Broadcasters Come Together for Flood Victims in Nebraska

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association brought together local broadcasters to raise money for flood victims in Nebraska and Iowa.

KETV participated in the statewide fundraiser but also worked with The Salvation Army to raise more than $57,000 in four hours. The next day a donor matched that amount, bringing the total to $114,000. The station also partnered with the Red Cross two days later on two phone banks to raise $48,678 for local flood relief.

“We were overwhelmed by the response and the amount raised continues to grow,” said Jeff Beckman, executive director of development for The Salvation Army. “We’re still following up with people that left messages wanting to donate.”

KETV donated $10,000 to the relief efforts.

“When local communities are in need, the people of Nebraska and Iowa step up to help. As a member of this community, we are proud to do our part,” said Ariel Roblin, KETV’s president and general manager.

More than $600,000 was raised for relief efforts during the statewide initiative.
