British Local Station to Relaunch as Telly McTellyface

A local British TV station is honoring the memory of the British Antarctic Survey’s public fail in asking the British public what it should call its newest polar research ship.

The British public came up with the name RRS Boaty McBoatface. The Antarctic survey decided that was unbecoming a research vessel, so it called it the RRS Sir David Attenborough instead.

In the spirit of that contest, The Guardian says local TV outlet Made Television is going to call itself Telly McTellyface.

“We hereby rename the good ship Made Television to ‘Telly McTellyface’ as a salute to the great British sense of humour and all who sail her,” said Jamie Conway, chief executive and founder of Made Television.
