Brian Loftus has been named co-anchor of the KLAS morning news.
For the past five years, Loftus has been the traffic reporter for the Las Vegas CBS station. He joins anchor Kirsten Joyce and weather anchor Sherry Swensk.
“I know he’ll do a great job from the anchor desk,” KLAS news director Ron Comings said in a statement. “He loves the morning newscast and he enjoys bringing some fun and humor to the program, which is why so many of his fans wanted to see Brian in this new position.”
Loftus has followed an unconventional career track. He went into broadcasting in 2002 after starting as a middle and high school teacher and coach. He switched from radio to television in 2006. He then got a job as a feature reporter for KMPH in Fresno.
