Rick Karle is retiring from Birmingham, Ala. NBC affiliate WVTM.
Karle joined WVTM in 2019. Before that, he worked as a sports anchor in Birmingham, Jacksonville, Florida and Hanover, N.H. He announced the move during this morning’s newscast, saying he’s exiting in December.
“Nothing more than a lifestyle thing,” he said. “It’s just that time.”

Karle joked that his future plans include either writing a book or becoming a Walmart greeter.
“It’s going to be hard to get out of my blood. Forty-three years of this,” he said.
