FOX 61, the Tribune-owned station in Hartford, Connecticut, has hired a former reporter to anchor the weekend newscasts and report during the week.

Ben Goldman is currently a student at the University of Connecticut. He finished an internship with Lester Holt at NBC Nightly News.

“Ben is launching a promising career in broadcasting as he joins our team of news leaders here at FOX61. As a Connecticut native, he is deeply rooted in our community. We look forward to Ben connecting with our viewers and reporting on the stories important to them,” said the vice president of news and news director, Liz Grey Godbout.

Goldman interned for PIX11 News in New York. Before that he was a weekend reporter and multimedia journalist for Western Mass News, CBS 3-ABC 40-FOX 6, in Springfield, MA.

He began his career at FOX 61 where he was the on-air host of studio segments highlighting Connecticut based non-profit organizations.

Goldman starts June 19.
