Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB says morning anchor Fred Blankeship will be back on the air soon after contracting Covid-19 despite being vaccinated.
Blankenship told viewers on Facebook he is feeling better after contracting the virus while on vacation with family in California.
“I thought because I was fully vaccinated the symptoms would be mild,” he said. “They were not. Over the past two weeks I have struggled to breathe.”
Blankenship also said he “acted like the biggest baby” while recovering and is just now getting his ability to taste and smell back. “I think I smelled peanut butter today,” he said. “Optimism is high!”
Blankenship plans to be back on-air Monday.
