April at KMGH Brings Newsroom Turnover

By Kevin Eck

Scripps-owned KMGH has seen a string of departures after the Denver ABC affiliate mutually agreed to part ways with anchor Eric Kahnert in early April, The Denver Post reports.

The Post says ep of news Jon Stone is leaving to work at the University of Denver and news producer Jamie Berg is leaving to work at NBC affiliate KUSA.

Director of New Media Kim Nguyen, who helped launch the station website and is a Murrow Award winner, has already left and earlier this month, Lindsay Watts left to freelance for Fox-owned WTTG in Washington, D.C.

Sometimes what appears to be a mass exodus is just a matter of timing.

“We’ve hired more than 25 people since I arrived,” KMGH news director Lindsay Radford told The Post. “There’s going to be some attrition from any newsroom.”

Radford was named news director a few weeks after Brad Remington was named GM in March 2015.

TVSpy asked Scripps about the article. We’ll update when we hear back.
