After 40 Years in Broadcasting, David Scott Leaving KXAN

By Kevin Eck

KXAN weekend anchor David Scott is leaving the Austin NBC affiliate after more than 40 years in broadcasting.

He told viewers about his departure on Sunday’s 10 p.m. newscast. His colleagues put together a retrospective video that aired after his goodbye.

“You could send Dave to any story, no matter the tone, no matter what it was and he’s just a great storyteller and I’ve always admired that about you,” said sports anchor Roger Wallace.

“David you are the storyteller that up and coming journalists aspire to be,” said meteorologist Rosie Newberry.

Scott has also worked in Detroit, Boston, Houston and San Antonio. He told TVSpy this week would be his last at the Austin station.
