After 10 Years, Meteorologist Leaving San Antonio’s WOAI

Weathercaster Jennifer Broome is leaving her WOAI-TV job after 10 years with the station.

My last day with WOAI will be in May, Broome, a certified broadcast meteorologist and weather anchor on the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts, confirmed in an e-mail.

She didnt elaborate, and neither she nor WOAI General Manager Jackie Rutledge returned calls Wednesday.

Broome, a South Carolina native, broke TV ground here in 2001 as the first woman to be promoted to chief meteorologist at a major English-language affiliate, a rarity both locally and nationally. More…
