By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WHOI, the ABC affiliate in Peoria, Illinois, has announced Brian Walder will be the station’s new chief meteorologist.

According the Journal Star, Walder will appear on the 5:30 and 10pm weeknight shows as well as digital platforms.

“(Walder) is a meteorologist that completely understands the science yet can translate that into a conversation so the viewer knows what the weather will be,” news director Perry Boxx told the paper.

Walder received a degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 2012. He previously worked in Tennessee and West Virginia.

Just last month, WHOI, let go of its longest running anchor team from the morning show, the Star reported and the station sports director left for a job in sales.
