Tampa-St. Petersburg Station Has a New GM

Mike Rodriguez has been named president and GM of WTSP.

He replaces Elliot Wiser, who left the Tampa-St. Petersburg CBS affiliate in September.

“Mike is a proven executive with an excellent track record of driving revenue and ratings,” said Lynn Beall, evp and COO of TEGNA Media. “He understands this industry, has Florida roots and will make an immediate impact at WTSP and in the Tampa community.”

Before coming to WTSP, he was the founder and principal of global management consulting firm Fairchild Global Advisors, LLC. He was CEO of eMerge Americas before that. In 2012, he was named vp and GM of Univision-owned Univision23 in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. He also spent 10 years with NBC/Telemundo and was GM of Telemundo 51 in Miami and as interim GM of Telemundo Los Angeles. He was promoted to svp of Telemundo network sales and marketing where he oversaw the network sales organization of Telemundo Network, Telemundo.com and Mun2.
