Buffalo Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WKBW has hired two reporters.
Thuy Lan Nguyen starts Monday, June 13 while Elizabeth Lewin starts June 6.
Nguyen comes from KERO in Bakersfield, Calif. Lewin has been working a recruiter in Boston. The Buffalo News reports she freelanced at the station several years ago.
“It is critical that our on-air staff reflect the diversity of the market,” said GM Michael Nurse. “Both will make immediate and lasting positive impact on our storytelling.”
“It has been a long journey but I am SO thrilled and humbled to be returning home to join WKBW-TV, a team I respect and have admired since I was a little girl! Buffalo,” Lewin wrote on her Facebook page. “Thuy Lan Nguyen 23ABC, I can’t wait to meet you, CHEERS!!”
Nguyen told KERO viewers on her Facebook page, “My last day with you will be May 25th and then I’m headed to BUFFALO, New York to get buried in snow & eat more wings.”
