Would Jay Leno Replace Larry King?

By Chris Ariens

Not that Larry King is going anywhere (when TVNewser saw him at the CNN politics upfront two weeks ago, he owned the room) … but Tom Dorsey of the Courier-Journal says King’s down-the-road replacement could be Jay Leno:

Jay “Leno, who announced three years ago that he would step aside in 2009 to let Conan O’Brien take over the ‘Tonight Show’ host chair, may be having second thoughts, according to the Los Angeles Times…What are his options if he is shown the door? There’s good reason to believe that Fox and maybe ABC would be standing on the other side with a write-your-own-contract deal in hand. CNN reportedly wants Leno to replace Larry King.”

A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser not so fast. Not only is Larry King not going anywhere, but Leno’s name has not come up in any conversations as a potential replacement. But then, 2009 is still a ways away.
