On Dec. 19, following the final primary debate of 2015 on ABC, the final Saturday Night Live of 2015 on NBC, will be co-hosted by SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Their renditions of Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton breathed satirical life into the 2008 election, and gave SNL some of its best ratings ever.
A few weeks before the 2008 vote, Fey reprized her role as Sarah Palin, with the real VP nominee looking on. That episode gave SNL its best ratings in 14 years. It drew 5 million more viewers than this season’s episode hosted by Donald Trump.
NBC made the Fey/Poehler announcement yesterday. ABC News is expected to announce details of their GOP debate as early as next week.
