When Obama Speaks…

By SteveK

CNN topped all the cable news networks in every category yesterday, but when it came to Sen. Barack Obama’s speech just after 10pmET, the network did one better.

The only broadcast network to carry the speech live was ABC, and the New York Times’ Brian Stelter reports CNN beat the broadcast network during the speech (4.73 million viewers to under 4 million).

The only other likely time in history when a cable network edged a broadcast network during the same live news event was when FNC won during the 2004 Republican National Convention, reports Stelter.
