For the second week in a row, ABC Good Morning America and NBC’s Today shared the spoils at the top of the morning show race. GMA took the top spot in total viewers, while Today show is No. 1 in the adults 25-54 demo.
GMA can celebrate the fact that its posting week-to-week increases in total viewers and adults 25-54, while the Today show can croon about its first back-to-back win in six weeks and also that it ranked No. 1 among adults 25-54 viewers in five of the last eight weeks.
According to live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen, ABC’s GMA averaged 3.08 million total viewers and 723,000 viewers in the adults 25-54 demo for the week of October 24. GMA grew by +1% in total viewers compared to the previous week and by +4% in adults 25-54. When comparing GMA’s performance to the same week in 2021, the morning show saw declines in both total viewers and the adults 25-54 demo at -7% and -8%, respectively.
NBC’s Today continued to hold firm as the No. 2 morning show in total viewers but can be pleased about its standing in the first-place among the adults 25-54 demo. For the week of oct. 24, Today averaged 2.91 million total viewers and 743,000 viewers in adults 25-54.
Compared to the previous week, Today gained +2% in total viewers and +6% in the adults 25-54 demo. When looking at the numbers from the same week in 2021, the Today show was down -11% in total viewers and -22% in adults 25-54.
CBS Mornings was the only morning show not to see any positive growth in total viewers for the week of Oct. 24. The No. 3 morning show averaged 2.4 million total viewers, a decline of -1% when compared to the previous week.
However, CBS Mornings gained +2% in the key A25-54 demo with 545,000 A25-54 viewers, and looking at the same week in 2021, Mornings is down -6% in total viewers but up +4% in the adults 25-54 demo.
